Basestation and Windows 8 Laptop Problem

I have two Alpha dog tracking units that I have tried to use with Basestation. I have two different laptops with Windows 8. Whenever I try and enter Basestation it immediately locks up, I get an error message and I have to close Basestation.

I have tried both of my Alphas and both of my laptops in different combinations and every time Basestation closes. Both of my Alphas will work with my windows 7 laptop with no problems.

I spent over an hour with phone support. They loaded an earlier version of BaseCamp, but it also stops working when you start traveling with the Alpha. All cables and connections have been checked and different cables used without success.

It will also be very nice when my saved POIs and Birdseye imagery will display during Basestation.

Is anybody else using Windows 8 with Basestation?

Am I the only fool to try?

I apologize for the trouble. There probably are comparatively (when compared to automotive and hiking units) few users of Alphas, and probably even less that use it in Basestation mode. But that doesn't mean that we aren't attempting to fix the problem. We have been able to reproduce the issue and are working on a fix. Depending on how difficult the fix is, it may or may not be in the next maintenance release 4.1.2.

The Astro 320 also crashes basecamp when in basestation mode. I too would like to use birdseye imagery while in basestation mode.

We think we have a fix for the crash. It will be available in 4.1.2 (which should be released soon).

The BirdsEye issue is on our radar as well, however that won't make it into 4.1.

We made a change in 4.1.2 that will hopefully fix the error.

Displaying BirdsEye and Custom Maps along with Basestation data is also something we want to do, but that won't happen in 4.1.
