Basecamp Saving Tracks weirdness

Hi

Being using Basecamp (4.1.0 then 4.1.1) for about two weeks now (Mapsource previously for a few years).
I've got a few weird things happening & I'm wondering if anyone else is getting these problems.

I've saved three tracks from my unit so far. As I was experimenting with the software I'm not sure how I did it but the first three tracks are saved under My collection > Data received from Oregon 300 & given a name like 04/02/2013 19:25:33

I've just tried saving my fourth track by using both drag-dropping & the right click-Send To methods on the Internal Storage folder of my unit. Both ways ask me for a name. This never happened before - I wouldn't have typed the time. Previously it automatically took the date/time as the name. How can I get it to do that again?

When naming this track I tried to add the date in the same format as previous. It displayed an error message box saying it could not contain the '/' character (amongst others). How can this be?

It sometimes adds a fourth digit to each waypoint number ie 001 ->0011, 003->0032, 026->0262 etc when saved to my collection library. It displays them correctly in the device listing. It didn't do this in Mapsource. Is there anyway of preventing this?

Hope you can help
Dave F.

To change the forum username, please contact product support (link is in my signature). They should be able to clean that up for you. I unfortunately do not have proper forum permissions to do so. I apologize.

As to your first question, I am not quite sure what you are trying to do. Are you trying to send a track from your Oregon to BaseCamp? Or the other way around? What steps are you performing exactly? Please be a specific as possible. The only thing I can think of when we ask for a name is when you are trying to send data to a folder, then we ask you for a list name.

You cannot have several waypoints with the same name in My Collection. That's why we change the name. That was the case in MapSource as well.

There are some great resources at https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?31299-BaseCamp-Resources, a user-provided Wiki entry and Garmin tutorials that should help you get up to speed with BaseCamp.
