BaseCamp 4.1.1 should be available via update from within BaseCamp or via the Garmin web site at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435.

This is a maintenance release that is aimed at fixing the most prevalent issues with 4.1.0.

Fixed an issue where BaseCamp was not responding if a certain GPI file (006D135900.GPI) was present on the device.
Fixed an issue where BaseCamp did not seem to recognize some MTP devices (it was taking several minutes for BaseCamp to display the device). Device detection of such devices should now be much faster.
Fixed an issue with Garmin cloud where syncing between Mac and PC would not work properly.
Fixed an issue with ‘Restore from Previous Version’.
Fixed an issue where using the city finder (in the Find Options “Location” textbox) would lead to a crash if the map did not support city searches.
Fixed an issue with city search on the Global Map.
Fixed an issue with user data search.
Fixed a start-up issue.
Fixed an issue with refreshing find results when the find results were hidden.

    Not fixed:

Crashes laptop when selecting import data.

    Unhelpful:

Has dumped all my information I'd sorted in 4.0.5 and uses the information that was in 4.1.0 before it got canned.

So, how do I find the data that was in 4.0.5?

Yeah, the data import issue on certain laptops has not been fixed.

To get the data from 4.0.5:

    1. Do a Backup first (in case anything goes wrong).
    2. Do 'Restore from Previous Version' from the file menu.

    Hi Falagar,
Just an FYI. I saw this thread, started up Basecamp 4.1.0 and 'checked for updates' - none found. Rooted around on the main website until I found the OS X release, downloaded it and installed. So far everything seems OK. Anything you'd like checked? (It does seem to operate faster by the way.)

Note that you are posting this in the Windows forum. The Macintosh Basecamp forum is here: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?171-BaseCamp
  • I'm trying to get a handle on the new search mechanism. Not sure I like it. Anyway...
I have the map centered on my location.
Search for Food and Drink - All subcategories.
The resulting list contains 30 items ranging out to 3.5 miles from my location.
There is no apparent option to "get more" search results.
Is this intentional? It would be nice to just keep looking outward from map center without having to move the map.

Also, when I watch the list being populated it looks like some entries are being overwritten as list list reaches 30 items.
  • Yes, I asked this question when 4.1.0 appeared, apparently that's how it is at the moment. I suggested that it needs to be more, maybe even user configurable, since 30 isn't enough. Falagar acknowledged it so we may see a change in due course, but worth anyone else asking :)

Well, found another problem with 4.1.1 this morning. I was doing some searches just trying to understand the search function better & it's obvious limitation.

Maybe tried 8 or 10 different searches for things like addresses & food.

When I went to close the Base Camp application it wouldn't close with either the (X) or using the (File/Exit). So I did some more searches & out of 4 multiple search tries Base Camp wouldn't close after 3 of them (needed to use Cntrl/Alt/Delete then (stop program) function to get Base Camp to close.

I had this happen a couple of times with 4.1.0 also but thought that 4.1.1 might eliminate the problem.

Running a Win 7_ 64 bit system FWIW.
  • Haven't seen that happen myself, also running Win7. BC closes without issue after numerous searches.

What doesn't appear consistent is when you do a search for a city sometimes the map refocuses to the new city, sometimes it doesn't. In UK for example type in London and the map refocuses to London, type in Worthing and it doesn't, clearly the refocusing either should work for all cities or none, think the juries still out on which :)
  • It happened to me too, that BaseCamp 4.1.0 didn't want to close, I had to kill the program. I'm using Windows 7 64bit, I haven't tested new version yet.

Refocusing of the map is IMO a bug since there is no "back" button and distances shown next to results are meaningless after refocusing.
