Bug? changing profile from 'direct' to 'walking' mass up the route

Hi,

I am using basecamp 4.0.5. When I create a very simple route within the city with three points and a profile 'direct' then the route is displayed well (total distance about 270 metres). See files Screenshot-1a and 1b.
When I change the profile to 'walking' then the route is massed up and becomes 7,3 kilometre . When I look under Route Directions then it has added two new points, both 2 kilometres away. See files Screenshot-2a and 2b.
I have tried several things and different profiles but it doesn't help. Do I do something wrong or is it a bug (cannot believe that because it is version 4.0.5 already)? Hope someone has the solution.

With regards,

Daan
  • Some additional information. When I change the map to the 'Global Map' then Basecamp is sending me to the highway which is the only way in the neighboorhood (it is also misplaced). I have the Recreational Map Europe v3, got with my Garmin 62st. It seems not to use the streetinformation.

    With regards,

    Daan
  • The Recreational Map Europe is not routable. What happens is that BaseCamp uses the Global Map instead when you switch over from a non-routing profile to a routing profile. Because the Global Map contains very few roads, you get this strange effect. Solution: don't use any other profile than 'Direct' (other profiles are no use to you as you don't have a routable map)
Another solution: you could install a routable map like the free Openfietsmap; it's a very good, detailed map (at least when you live in The Netherlands).

As for the Global Map: the highway is not really misplaced, it's just that the resolution is very low.

(there is a minor bug in BaseCamp though; it shouldn't use any map other than the active one for routing...)

(P.S. Je kunt met je vragen beter terecht op http://forum.gps.nl , hoef je niet in 't Engels te schrijven, en er is meer expertise dan hier. Je krijgt er ook veel sneller antwoorden...)
  • Thanks, this explains a lot. As you have said, it is a small bug but it confused me.
I'll take a look at the map and the suggested site.
