topo for basecamp

Hello I purchased a couple of rino 655t to use for back country travel in alaska. My question is how do I set up a route in base camp in remote alaska when the global map has so few points of reference. I have the topo 100 in rino but cannot figure out how to see that in base camp to plan a route. If I buy the alaska 20k micro chip. will I be able to use that on the pc to plan a route or only on the micro rino screen. this is a tad frustrating considering how easy and free it is to use google maps .
Thank you for your help. also I have tried to search the forum for the answers but receive only error message.

I recommend you always buy maps on a DVD. Make sure the map you buy supports auto routing.
From the DVD you load the map into your computer for ease of making routes or tracks. From your computer you can pick and load any pieces or all of the map onto your own micro card.

The beauty of having your own DVD and using your own micro card is any track or route you make on your computer using that map will work just as planned on your gps.

I do not think your Topo 100K supports auto routing.
