hide waypoint names on map screen?

I would like to "hide" waypoint names on the Fenix map screen, since there is very little room on the screen for track and route info, and the waypoint name simply blocks that information. I connected my Fenix to Basecamp software and selected the show "Symbol Only" option, so it should be possible, but when I actually use the watch, the name of the waypoint does indeed show on the screen.

is it possible to hide the waypoint name on the map screen? obviously I want it in the waypoint list (on the waypoint menu option), as when I am selecting a waypoint to navigate to......but there is no need for excess info on very little real estate.

Any solution to this? I have an old Garmin 60CS handheld unit. Like BIRDIEPILOT, when I load my routes onto it, every point has a huge label--with 247 points, the entire screen is blocked by waypoint labels. How to turn them off?

I'm using latest Basecamp 4.1.2 on Windows 7.

    Add me to this request.

Sometimes the labels get in the way and all you want to see is the waypoints or tracks.

Is there a way to hide lables on the map?

A forum search didn't reveal a clear answer to this.

If you have a large number of waypoints with detailed lables, it tends to obscure the map.
    Especially when zoomed out.
Is there a way to toggle the waypoint lables off and on?
  • It is done in the waypoint properties window. Double click on a waypoint to open up the window and choose Symbol from the drop down menu on the Display Mode line.

Multiple waypoints can be changed at once by selecting them and choosing Edit > Open Selected Item. If you want to change all the waypoints on a list with other objects, use the data filter (looks like a funnel at the bottom right of the lower left pane) by clicking on it, then click on the flag. Click on the first waypoint in the list and shift double click on the last waypoint in the list. Remember to reset the filter to List when done.

    Thank you!
  • Thanks for that tip!

I've been looking everywhere to turn-off the labels for 'routes' in Garmin Home Port and this information has answered my query!
