I cannot see how to join two or more tracks in BaseCamp. This function is available in Mapsource, so I would have thought it should also be in BC. I would like to have both an automatic faclity and the ability to make the join between two defined points on the respective tracks.

This is fundamental facility. For several reasons tracks can become interupted, while being created by a device, and the segments need to be integrated.

Select the two tracks, then right click - Advanced - Join Selected Tracks.

Aah! Thanks. But this is automatic and sometimes the two extreme ends of the new track are also joined.

Sometimes you have to experiment a bit ... and perhaps do a bit of editing to get exactly what you want

Thanks. It would make it easier if we were offered the option of selecting start or end point as in Mapsourse.

Well the developers visit here quite frequently, so may be worth you putting it forward for consideration.

First, make sure both tracks are headed in the same direction. If not, Open the incorrect one and Invert the direction.

When you do the Advanced, Join Selected Tracks you get a window showing both tracks. If they are joining from the wrong end, click on one of them and then use the up or down arrow to make it correct.

Thanks. What about the situation of a track segment returning aong the same route as the outward one? In that case, the arrows point in opposite directions, but the end point of the outward track is nearest to the start point of the return track. Anyway, I will fiddle around and experiment a bit.
