Hoping someone can throw somw light on this. I used Basecamp V3.3.3 successfully with my Zumo220. I was disappointed to find that BC V4 does not recognise the unit. The only way I can get routes into the Zumo or Tracks out of it is through Mapsource. Can anyone offer any help please?
I am not aware of any reason why 3.3.3 would see the unit, and 4.0 wouldn't. Make sure you have the devices folder expanded. Does the Zumo show up as a drive in Windows File Explorer?
Thanks for the reply Falagar. In 3.3.3 the Garmin shows in Devices along with the sd card. I can transfer Routes/Tracks etc back and forward with no problem. Garmin and card also show in Explorer. In 4.0.2 no devices show (does the Devices pane only activate when there is a recognised device connected?) - but I've just discovered I can use "File/Export and export the route via the Explorer window to the Garmin/GPX folder
I've just been going through the menu's and looking at various settings - I've got it working - Zumo now shows under Devices and I can access it by the Transfer to/From Device Icons (which I couldn't previously). Obviously I've changed something somewhere - but I'm not sure what!!! If you, know I'd appreciate your insight - but thank you anyhow for your help.
Thanks again Falagar. Will download that. I used Mapsource a lot and loved it - but as I use Basecamp more I'm becoming more and more impressed with it's power - certainly V4 was a big step up from 3.3.3. The one thing I still find Mapsource better at is clicking and dragging to move a segment of a route to an alternative road, but I'm sure Basecamp will get there eventually!
BaseCamp has the Move tool that should allow you to do that in BaseCamp. Select the route you want to change, then switch to the Move tool on the Toolbar (or use the menu), and you should be able to move via points around on the map.
Yep I know about the Move tool - I just seem to find it difficult to predict what it's going to move and where to but I hadn't realised that extra via, or shaping points, made such a big difference. Mapsource seemed to do what I needed without too many shaping points! As I said - I'm getting to enjoy using it more and more! Thanks for all the help
