Trip ends at first via point, please help!

I have a Nuvi 3550LM and latest version of Basecamp on Windows 7.
I create a simple 16 mile route on Basecamp with a starting and ending Waypoint (my home and work). It calculates and is in Automobile mode.
I decide to edit the route still with Basecamp because I want the route to go a different way (like I'm use to driving every day). I add 6 via points to shape the route. I zoom all the way in and it looks fine.
I copy the route to my 3550 and can find it under trips.
I select go, a screen comes up and can see the via points. It asks "select next destination", the first via point is selected and all looks good (you can only check one via point, if you select the end waypoint it calculates as if there where no via points).
The dashboard shows the 16mi trip with correct ending miles and time. I start driving and when it gets to the first via point the trip ends??
The 3550 is also in Automobile mode with the same avoidences. I checked and checked the settings.
What am I doing wrong or what did I miss?
Thanks,
Tom

This morning it worked! So no idea why it was stopping the trip after the first via point before.
