New Basecamp user needs help - Trips not showing up in Basecamp

Hello everyone, I have a new Nuvi 3550LM. I'm coming from a 1690 and always using Mapsource to plan my routes and upload them to my device. I decided I probably should move to Basecamp. I'm a bit confused with the 3550 and Basecamp in regards to what I'm used to with routes. I finally got some of my old routes transferred to my 3550 and now find them under Trips! No more routes? My problem is, and I'm sure it’s from my lack of knowledge... When I transfer everything from my device to Basecamp my trips are not showing up in Basecamp? I would like to edit these trips/routes within basecamp and re-upload them back to the 3550. Is this possible? I must be doing something wrong or missing a step?

I don't think its possible to view trips but then I have a 1490 that uses the older style route planner so could be wrong. BC will happily read routes though.

Trips and routes are completely different. When you send a route from Basecamp to your 3550, the device converts it to a trip. This is a one-way process; you cannot send the trips back to Basecamp. So any trips that you create or edit on the Nuvi can only be used on the device itself. This is a major shortcoming of the new Nuvi's, and has frustrated many people who were used to the old routes.

Update

I have found that if I put my routes on my sd card location on the 3550 they show up in Basecamp and can edit and copy them back and forth. So far this is working well.
