When I join some old and new tracks in a given area, there's a line that gets drawn on the map between the last point on one track to the first point of another. Is there a way to hide or eliminate this connecting line? It's cluttering my maps.
If the time stamps of the tracks don't line up properly, then this is something that might happen.
Could you attach a gpx file of 2 example tracks that display this behavior? Then I should be able to give more concrete advice as to how to make this work.
Yes, that is definitely an issue of non-matching time-stamps. Unfortunately there isn't much in BaseCamp that you can do to change the time-stamps. You could try to strip the time-stamps or change them, maybe using GPS Babel (http://www.gpsbabel.org), and then join the tracks.
I'll check if there's something we can do abouut that in a future version of BaseCamp.
When you reverse a track in BaseCamp it will loose the timestamps. When necessary reverse them back so that they have the correct direction. When joining the resulting tracks you can define in which order they will be joined.
(tested with the Mac version of BaseCamp, but I assume that it works the same on the Windows version)
Here is my text to remove the Altitude data, but Time is also an option. To Remove Elevation Data: open file in GPX Editor on left side, Scroll down and select Track Segment Click the the Filter (a funnel) button Select the rightmost Icon (<>), and select Altitude. click Apply and OK. Save the file as GPX.
usually when I combine gpx tracks--they were generated at different days. I've never had a problem using the combined file.
