Basecamp doesn't "see" my device - Astro 220

I have an Astro 220 for which I'm trying to transfer tracks from Basecamp to my unit.

With Basecamp open, I plug my handheld into the computer using a USB cord - my unit powers on, but then appears normal. Basecamp doesn't see the device connected.

I've tried with two different versions of Basecamp (both 3.3, and the latest 4.0.2). Additionally, I've used two different computers and two different handheld units.

Instructions say the unit should be off when plugged in, and it is.

I've transferred tracks to both of these handhelds last year, so I'm not sure what's changed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m not familiar with your unit, but I will try to help anyway. I took a quick look at the 220 manual on the internet. Two things come to mind. One is that there is a problem with the USB drivers you installed. You can reinstall/update them from the Garmin website.

The other is that your unit is no longer in mass storage mode. You should refer to pages 56-58 in your manual.
