In Basecamp 4.0.1, pois are displayed at a much higher zoom level compared with v.3.3 and Mapsource.

In Normal detail level, they appear at 50m (200m in BC 3.3, 300m in MS).

Is this intended, and why?

I can imagine in some very dense populated areas, this will prevent cluttering of the map, but in sparsely populated areas this will be unwanted.

Is it not a better idea to choose the setting of the zoomlevels yourself, just like on the GPS devices?

I believe that was intended. Just turn up the detail level if you'd like to see them further out.

It really depends on the region. Now you really need to zoom in very close in a region that is sparesly populated to see any pois. Turning up the detail level helps, but I agree a separate adjustment of map detail and POI zoom level like on the GPS devices will be a great improvement.

I think the problem OPENFIETSMAP is referring to is that there are too many POI's shown which clutters the map. I have the same problem. Go to Manhattan or any other major city and you will see the problem. Reducing the detail level also reduces the street detail. My Montana 600 allows separate adjustment of map detail and POI zoom level. In fact, you can turn off POIs altogether. This would be a very nice feature to add to BaseCamp.

You can turn POIs (lines and areas as well) on or off in BaseCamp.

Go to Preferences, Activity Profiles, Map Display Features.
