New Activity Profiles

I have created a new Activity Profile and amended the Customized Speeds. However when a new route is created, the Elapsed Time does not reflect the amended Customized Speeds. How come.

Thanks.
  • The program also doesn't add in layover times - and then to make matters worse, when you send it to the device it recalculates it again changing it once more to some other time.

All devices need to have an option to calculate using BaseCamp settings only and override all device settings.

I hope Garmin will fix this problem.

    :(
  • Hi
I have the same problem. In fact it doesn't work in any Activity profile.
I use Basecamp version 4.2.1. now.
Is it still not working or I do some mistake?
    Thanks
  • I'm running 4.2.1 and changing speeds in the activity profile is working for me.

To change of speeds is possible in activity profile, but Elapsed time of route (it is visible after double click on route) will not change after recalculation.
Elapsed time is always the same if speeds are set to 5km/h or 100km/h
    :(
  • Just confirmed that it does work - but I might have found why yours is not updating. I did the following
    1. Open existing route using "Motorcycle" (in my case - yours may be different) profile
    2. Go to Route Options tab, choose "Edit Profile" and "Customise" average speeds
    3. Close Options window - Click "No" to re-calculate - simply because clicking "Yes" will recalculate ALL your routes using this profile which you may not want
    4. The "Activity Profile" will now have changed to "None" - this is why your route has not changed.
    5. Change Activity Profile back to "Motorcycle" (or whatever yours was) - the route will now re-calculate and change the time (only of that particular route) accordingly.
A bit of a roundabout way but I suppose there is a form of logic in there somewhere!

    Hi,
I did exactly what you wrote and it doesn't work on my PC.
I tried it severaltimes. I tried also to create and use special activity profile but elapsed time doesn't reflect average speeds.

Average speed is always about 21km/h (for Driving, Motorcycling, Tour cycling activity profile) if I tried to calculate average speed from distance and elapsed time.
So it is clear that it doesn't use customised speeds if speeds for cars are at least 40km/h.

    I use Windows 7 x64
  • I'm also using Win7x64 and I've edited speeds in the profile from 60mph to 10mph to 45mph and it's recalcuated every time. I'm still fairly new to NCAA after using Mapsource for a long time so I'm no expert! Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge than I have will jump on and help.

    Hi,

I tried to switch to old maps and now it is working.
Unfortunately it works in "Driving", "Motorcycling" etc. activity profile only.
If I use "Tour cycling" profile it doesn't work!

So I have to wait for next updates. I hope Garmin will fix it soon.

    Thanks for help

Yes - I agree - customising the average speed in driving, walking, motorcycling etc works fine, but not in any Cycling-based activity.
