Continuing the theme of "can't connect iPhone 4S to Basecamp Mobile app": I have update both the system software (to 4.05) and the GPS firmware (to the latest version). As some have noted above, I can pair with Garmin if I want to use the notification feature (works like a charm), but BCM will not find a Garmin device. Yes, I turn off BT (no notifications, just OFF), and then go to ShareData -> Basecamp. The BT symbol shows on my fenix, the 4S BT symbol is illuminated (saying it is paired), but BCM can't find it. My version of BCM is 2.0 (no apparent updates in the App Store). I have also deleted the .fit file in the Garmin folder. Any further thoughts, or just abandon the effort? Thank you, in advance....
This is strange.... I got the fenix to connect to BCM, but not completely sure what the underlying problem might be. Here's what I did. I first went to the iPhone BT setup and tapped on my fenix. I said "forget this device". OK, BT icon was dark, so no pairing. I then enable share data with BCM on the fenix. BT icon shows up on fenix. I opened BCM and did a search for device. Received message asking for the code (pairing code). I entered the number showing up on my fenix. And...I was now paired with BCM and my tracks were uploaded.
My guess is that, as has been hinted at above, the fenix cannot do notifications and share data with one pairing. My iPhone was paired with the fenix for notifications (from yesterday), so the fenix would not recognize a request from BCM. Once I "forgot" the fenix - and therefore stopped notifications, I was able to pair with BCM. Sorry if that analysis is a bit opaque, but I just wanted to document this for others (and myself in the future), should we have a recurrence.
