Basecamp 4.01 is constantly failing.

I have been using Basecamp for some time now. With 3.3.3 I have had no real problems and I am trying to use Basecamp as my main application for Garmin.

As of today my Basecamp 4.01 keeps failing. I make a change on the icon bar to go from Highest to another level and it crashes. I have sent in a number of error reports. Due to this problem I have uninstalled Basecamp 4.01 from my computer and I would like to download 3.3.3 which was working for me until 4.01 is useable. I did not want to download 4.01 to update 3.3.3 but it did an automatic download. I travel fulltime in an RV and my internet access is limited and I use my Garmin constantly.

I go to download Basecamp 3.3.3 and all that comes up is 4.01.

If this keeps up I will have to go back to MapSource. I have no problem with Basecamp and find some of the features quite good. But this is a real problem for me.

Please post a URL to allow the download of Basecamp 3.3.3 for us that are trying to accept Basecamp until the bugs are removed from 4.01.

This happens to me as well, but I still use Basecamp. I just don't try to change the detail level. When you restart Basecamp, the new detail level is selected so you get the desired result. Due to the way the database is constructed you shouldn't lose any work when it crashes.

I think you will find that 4.0.1 has less bugs than 3.3.3. It certainly has better features.

The detail level change crash is a known issue and will be fixed in 4.0.2.

To avoid the crash, make sure to pan the map for a little bit before changing the detail level.

Thank you. That will help. I had no problem for quite some time then the next time I launched the program it started failing. I wonder what caused it.

I am looking forward to the next update.

Did you get the error reports that the program issued? I am just wondering if they worked and gave you the necessary information.

I didn't check if we got your specific report, but this crash got reported a lot, and we definitely got what we needed out of the reports to fix this. Thanks for reporting, and sorry again for the trouble.
