Ok, So, a novice with his first GPS.

I have been out on a long horse ride and taken my GPS, I have managed to get the details into the basecamp. But as I spent about 10 minutes wandering around our property the route on basecamp has lines everywhere before the actual route starts.

Is it possible to delete all the parts I dont want, and how ( in idiot speak please)

What I want is to go on a ride, log the ride and save it , edit it ( this is the hard part for me) put it back on the GPS so I can hand over the gps to someone who does not know the area dn say follow this, but at the moment, if they follow it, they will spend 15 minutes wandering from stable to field.

Please help its driving me mad
  • I'd just use the 'cut/divide tool' to delete the bit I didn't want.

The GPS handhelds have the propertie to register during acquisition of the satellites some nonsense. (And may be also at the end, when you go into a closed room.)
when I have such a track in basecamp, I do the following:
First, I doubleclick on the track: This opens a window which shows all the points of the track in a long list. I choose then with a mouse click the first point of this list, held the Shift key down and click the cursor down key several times. The result is, that all points of the track as shown on the map which are marked in this way are getting brown. I click on the cursor down (always the shift key down) so long until the brown part of the track gets to the real starting point of the track. then I press the delete key which deletes the brown part of the track.
You can make a similar procedure if in the middle of the track is also a nonsens part because the GPS has lost the satelites. The program connects then the last point before the brown line with the first point after the brown line with a strigth line.
