Basecamp Map Error

Let me try a second attempt at writing this! I have an Oregon 450T (Software Version 5.9), running Basecamp 4.0.1 with Drivers 2.3.1 on Windows 7.

When in Basecamp and I plug in the Oregon, I get this error message: "An error occurred when attempting to use the TOPO U.S. 100K Map Product".

Now, I also have a netbook computer and got that same error message. I reinstalled the Drivers 2.3.1 set and it worked and the map opened up. However, reinstalling the drivers on my desktop is not working and I get the message everytime.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Basecamp along with the drivers. I also tried deleting the .gpx files from the Oregon itself (since last year I had a similar error related to .gpx files).

Again, I'm just trying to get this to work in my desktop computer (works find on the netbook)...any suggestions would be welcomed! Thanks!

I have an Oregon 550T with OS 5.9 also running BaseCamp 4.0.1 on Win 7 Pro SP1 and am getting the same error message: "An error occurred when attempting to use the TOPO U.S. 100K Map Product". I wasn't having problems seeing my TOPO 100K map on previous versions of BaseCamp and wonder if version 4.0.1 has a bug?

    Any ideas what to try?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Close BasCamp. Try to delete the CardProductCache. Start BaseCamp again.

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\CardProductCache should be where the Cache is on Vista and 7, on XP it's a similar location.

Thanks Falagar! Deleting the folder worked. It took awhile for BaseCamp to rebuild the missing files and then the map was available.
  • Thanks. That worked for me as well.

    Error continues

I appreciate the fix. The fix is cumbersome but works. However, each time I use Basecamp with a different GPS (62stc vs 62st), the error now occurs with that other model. Basecamp seems to only be able to recognize the TOPO map rights on one GPS type at a time.

    Worked for Me

This worked for me as well. I think the problem started after I got crazy and loaded up BaseCamp with two units plugged in at once.

    Still a Problem

Still a problem. Most people probably have only one kind of 6s plugged in so this is not a problem. The program only allows one "type" of GPS at a time. Still no response from Garmin.
  • I have same problem with my 450t and Base Camp. I can read topo map in the unit but BaseCamp gives me an error message that reads " An error occurred when attempting to use TOPO US 100K Map Product". I tried the solution described above of deleting the folder but no luck. Anyone have any other ideas?

I would recommend contacting Garmin Support for this issue.

Old thread, but still a problem. I plugged in an Oregon 450t and a Forerunner 235 and had to delete the cache to get Basecamp to read the maps. Thanks for the fix!
