  • For those of us using a finger pad and no mouse wheel to do quick zooming, seeing in the changes list that the "coarse zoom" feature has been added in 4.0.1 was good. But no mention of coarse panning, maybe next time I thought. I upgraded to 4.0.1 today and was surprised to see coarse panning (ctrl-arrow) has been added also despite no mention in the updates list. Good show!

However I would suggest consideration of changing the coarse (3 level at a time) zoom key to be the ctrl key to be consistent with coarse panning, and if necessary use the alt key for "super coarse" full in/ full out zoom (which has no useful purpose IMO). It would be more intuitive to use the same (ctrl) key for all coarse map manipulations. See https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?25860-Request-Pan-amp-Zoom-Improvement

1.) There is a green bar on the device when you send stuff to it. If it stays green and eventually goes away, everything went well.
2.) That's definitely not how it should be. I'd have to see the gpx files from your device to know why that doesn't work.
3.) BaseCamp can display maps from your device. If you have the same map on your PC as well, then you will have two entries for that map.
4.) That is certainly not how it should be.

I'd be interested in seeing your data. Could you send me (via personal message) your GarminDevice.xml file and your device's GPX folder (zipped up). Then I should be able to reproduce what you are seeing and hopefully also fix your data. If sending the zipped file via PM doesn't work, put it on Dropbox or Skydrive and share it with me.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
Before reading it I decided to de-install BaseCamp (which was the result of an automated update after starting v3.3 and I am not really comfortable with that MO).
I downloaded a fresh, complete 4.01 file and installed that one.
My problems are over. I see the contents of my 62st, I see the progress indicator while sending to the 62, etc.
The only weird thing that hasn't vanished is the fact that the map changes when clicking "internal data" or whatever that's called in English.

I'd be happy to send you data in the way you suggested.
Just let me know if this info changes the data you'd like (or if there's no point).

    Cheers!
    Len.
  • I am having repeatable crashing issues with BaseCamp 4.0.1. When trying to remove an item from a list, I can open up any waypoint or route and go to the References tab and click on the "X" next to the list that the item appears in and BaseCamp will immediately shut down and give me an "Error Detected" window and ask me to send an error report to Garmin.
I know that I can right click on the item in a list and select "Send To" and choose a different list to send it to, but I wanted the item to show up in the "Unlisted Data" list and that selection is not available from the right click/Send To menu. I can reproduce this problem on two different computers.

    +1
    I see the same problem.

It did seem to remove it from the list before crashing, though.

Yes, The item is moved to the "Unlisted Data" list upon relaunch of BaseCamp. I am glad that someone else can reproduce this issue. I thought that maybe there was a problem with my database that I had imported from MapSource. I brought my files to work with me and tried them on my work computer and had the same result. I didn't know if BaseCamp was corrupted on my home PC.

I am glad you figured out most of the issues. I don't think I will need your data anymore.

That leaves the map change issue. Do you have any maps installed on your device's Internal Storage? The intended behavior is that if you double-click the map entry under Internal Storage that it should switch to the map. Just clicking 'Internal Storage' should not change the map. Is that behavior reproducible? I'd be interested in a screen-shot of BaseCamp when the device is plugged in. I would also be interested in what maps you have installed on your PC.

Thanks for reporting. I can reproduce this, we'll have this fixed in 4.0.2.

For now, you can just go to a list with the item you'd like to show up in Unlisted Data and hit the Delete key. That will remove it from the list (but not My Collection) and should make it appear in Unlisted Data.

Great! I appreciate the tip. Thank you, FALAGAR.

I just installed 4.0.1. The map background which used to be white is now gray which makes for poor contrast with the black lettering. Am I missing a setting or is this the way it is?

I am not aware of any changes. Which version of BaseCamp did you run before? And which map is this?
  • The detailed change list:
    ...
Added option to encourage the user to recalculate a route when the map that the route was created with isn't found on the device.
    ...

Maps CNNANT 2013.2 on both PC and Zumo 550, and using BC 4.0.1. Today I created two new routes in BC and when I sent to Zumo, got the warning referred to above:

But the 550 no longer has enough memory for the current map, so I have done as many others have and using MapInstall loaded the map on the SD card, where MapInstall creates it as a supplamentary map. From the warning verbiage about not recognizing supplamentary maps, I assume this is the reason it is giving me the warning even though I have the identical maps on both? Since the Zumo functions perfectly normally with the maps installed on the SD card, and this is now common practice, it seems to me that the warning should not be given in this case.
