problem communicating with your garmin device

I just bought a garmon oregon 400t. Registered it online, downloaded base camp, paid for birds eye satalite imagery. When I plug in the device while I have base camp opened I get an error message ``repeatedly'' saying that there was a problem communicating with my device. I hve tried multiple usb cables.

The problem occurs when the red all data line gets to ompletion. not sure if that helps.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think it's the USB cable.

Looks like BaseCamp has trouble reading one or more files from your device. The challenge is trying to figure out which files cause the issue. Does it mention any file names in the error messages?

Does BaseCamp recognize your device properly? Does it say Oregon 400 (or something along those lines)? When the errors start popping up (after the "red all data line" disappears) is there any device data visible at all in BaseCamp?

A screenshot might be helpful.

Did you transfer any data to your device yet? BirdsEye, routes, waypoints, etc.?

If you feel adventurous, you could try backing up and then deleting any *.gpx files on your device's \Garmin\gpx folder and see if the errors go away.

This is almost certainly caused by a malformed or otherwise invalid GPX file. Sadly BaseCamp never tells you which one... (something for a feature request)
You can find out which one it is by manually importing them into BaseCamp one by one.
