BaseCamp 4.0.0.6 is available

We are releasing another public Beta of 4.0. This release contains a bunch of bug fixes and a few added features. This will most likely be the last Beta version, we are pretty close to releasing the final 4.0.1 version.

You should be able to update from within 4.0.0.5. Or download it directly at http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCampBeta_4.0.0.6.exe.

Please give it a spin, report any errors and leave feedback here or via feedback option within BaseCamp. Thanks!

The What is new in BaseCamp 4.0? Thread still applies. Adventures are still the focus of this release.

List of changes:

Added option to encourage the user to recalculate a route when the map that the route was created with isn't found on the device.
Added prompt when duplicating a route if BaseCamp should also duplicate the waypoints used in the route.
Added zooming via Alt/+ Alt/- keys. This is a coarse zoom which zooms in or out a number of zoom levels.
Added simpler way to send and receive data to/from devices.
Re-added the 'Unlisted Data' list. It should work properly now.
Improved the validation of map coordinates in the Recenter dialog.
Made a change so gas stations with convenience stores have the gas station icon, not a shop icon.
Fixed various Adventure issues.
Fixed various issues with the route properties dialog.
Fixed various issues with the trip planner dialog.
Fixed issues with remembering dialog sizes and sorting.
Fixed an issue where BaseCamp was writing superfluous track segment and thumbnail files.

Just installed 4.0.0.6 and finally got it to run on my system. If I answer No to the initial prompt regarding data collection the basecamp process just quits. I had to anwer Yes to get it to actually come up. I know you want data but really...:)

It's a Beta, and analytics give us crucial information to help us to get a solid release out. I'd like to point out that the data we collect is not personal, we don't upload any of your actual data. It's just generic stuff like system specs, how many waypoints, tracks, etc. do you have, what kind of device do you use, which settings do you have, and which functions of the program you use. It helps us identify how customers use the application and make decisions how to make it better.

The final version will allow you to opt-out as always.

Something wrong under Win 7, the left hand pane width increases from where you set it, and the toolbars don't remember where you put them either. On the plus side the unlisted data seems to work well now :)

I am running BC 3.3.3. I am usually slow to update because of bugs in newer applications. I travel fulltime in an RV and depend on my GPS and software to manage where and how I travel.

When version 4.01 is released will I be able to update from this version or will I have to update to the latest version 3 BC first?

I am working on getting use to Basecamp and don't want to work through bugs at this time.

You can update from any version.

BC beta 4.0.0.6 chrashes quite often for me when I insert another waypoint in a route or change the sequence of waypoints in the route. I am using CN EU 2013.1 mapset. BC then displays an error report that I can submit. I have done that a couple of times.

Thank you for reporting the errors. We should be able to fix those crashes. The reports are a great help.

using the measuring tool to find out distances, is there a way to turn off the sq metres and the orange trangles formed by the tool as i dont want the area only the mileage it does clutter up the screen? thank u

Just in case it's got forgotten ...

Dragging the internal storage folder from my nuvi 1490 into BC no longer retains the Favorite 'categories', instead everything is listed in one huge list. I raised this before and was told the intent was that categories would be retained, so hopefully will be fixed prior to the full release of 4.0?
