Basecamp is slow and find not working

I just upgraded from an old garming which used mapsource ( i think) - the software was fast and easy to us.

The new Garmin is amazing I am having problems with the basecamp. I am going on holiday to portgual, and I hoped to add all the places I want to go, but the software is so slow. It took about 10 minutes to get the basecamp to view the area I was moving to, and then it would take ages to load each area.

It is like surfing the internet on dial up

what am I doing wrong?

Oh and the find facility says "please wait" but it does seem to come up

Which device are you using and which map? And is the map installed on your PC, or are you using the map straight from the GPS.

Maybe you are using the map straight from a device with a slow USB connection which can indeed be pretty slow. If you install the map on your computer, it should be much faster.

That is my guess at least. If that's not it, what are you computer's specs?

The find issue is probably related, but in BaseCamp 4.0 the find bar should be much faster to initialize.
