Hi;

when I type in a address, it takes quiet a while to find the address. Sometimes, it will not find a popular address that is there in the database.

I have 30-50 addresses I have to create waypoints quite often. This method will not work for me. Is there another way I can get my addresses into Basecamp without this laborious method?

Is there anyway I can type the addresses into excel and import them into Basecamp?
  • As I replied to your other post:

Zip/Postcode seraches aren't yet in BC, later we're told!

Other than that address searches seem to work for me, are you sure you have the correct address and entering it correctly? Apparently it should be 'street name, city'
  • How are you entering it? Often less is better. South for example could be in the data as s or south or sth . Try just entering 2325 80 Avenue, Omaha and see what happens.

You are getting much better results than I am:

Trying to find an address on Buckingham Drive, St Louis, MO - anything I type in that contains buckingham results in the map moving to Buckingham, Illinois.

Eventually I found that typing xxxx Buckingh Dr , put it 7th on the list - not sorted by distance - This needs some real work!

Anyone any idea how I would go about finding a city? Typing Chicago in does gets you Chicago, IL. Typing St Louis gets you address matches for St Louis.

Not a patch on the Mapsource searches at the moment.
  • Try Ctrl + Alt + F, then POIs if not selected, then select Cities from the More Options drop down list and type St Louis in the location box.

Still unclear why Cities appears under POIs so hope that will change so it gets its own entry in the next version of BC :)

    Thanks for that.

Basecamp has some useful features, and could be an overall improvement on MapSource, but it needs a bit of work yet.

I have an even stupider question. Where do you type in anything. When I open the window, it says to enter an address. Where? How?
  • Easist way in Windows I find is to hit Ctrl + Alt + F. Click on Adresses under type. Now enter the city into Location. It should start to populate based on what you type, when you can choose the city. Now in the search box (above) type the address and hit enter.

If in UK you can just type the postcode into the search box.

Finding the search box was my problem. I finally located it after finding the city.

    Dear Garmin Folks...

Please, please, please improve the address search function in BaseCamp. Please. I work in real estate, and it would save me time if I could type the address into BC, it would find it as fast as my 3597, and I could plan my route to show For Sale listings. Planning routes in Google Maps, converting them to gpx files in Tyre, and then recalculating them is also an exercise in frustration due to differences in waypoint structuring between Google and Garmin. Right now, it is far easier for me to just enter the addresses directly into the 3597, but I could do it even faster using a PC and either BC or GM with some kind of conduit to either BC or a conversion tool to then dump it into the 3597 or other compatible Garmin device. I greatly appreciate the fact that BC is free...but it would really help, IMHO, if the address search function was improved.
