Basecamp 3.3.3 and Zumo 350LM Help

I have a number of issues. Scary when you consider I just spent $700 on a brand new Zumo 350LM but thought I'd start here.
I am using Google maps to create a ride route for my motorcycle club, I save the route as a KML in Google maps and converted it to a gpx using the online converter at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com and then import that gpx into Basecamp 3.3.3. Seems to work OK until I tried to change the route... what I did was modify the route in Google maps, re3save the kml, reconvert it to a gpx... whew...
OK, I think now I should remove the older route from my Zumo and import the new route. So I delete the route in Basecamps Library "My Collection" but it does not seem to remove it from the Zumo, so I clibk on Internal storage under the Zumo 350 in basecamp and I cannot remove items from the list there. Delete or cut are not even an option.
How to I remove a route from my Zumo once it's in there?

The Zumo does not provide the functionality for BaseCamp to delete data from it. You'll have to delete the route on the Zumo itself.

Falagar, I was in the very same situation of NPIGUY, what I blame here is the lack of information for beginners: for what I've understood till now is that it would be better to see BC as a browser rather than a standalone software so, talking about 350LM you can only send and receive data to it but not directly modify nor delete from BC. :o
As newbie, when I've seen the left pane for the firs time, it looked like all the operations were possible in that area, it is simply not true, it depend on what you've selected on the top, i.e.: any modification you make on a route it's not automatically saved on your device, it always needs to be "sent"
Same for the unusable Global Map shown if the device is disconnected and you didn't download it because you've a Lifetime Map with no updates available yet (my post below).
All the above, and many others, are basic info and advices NOT written anywhere (at least I didn't find anything) and this makes really hard the first week with Garmin & BC.

That's what the forums are for...learning!

I got my first Garmin GPS in 1997, a III+...talk about a learning curve!!

But AutoCad was the same way, learning to use my PlasmaCam the same, learning to work on my Polaris RZR, again the same.

I've used forums to share what I have learned and learn from others.

Gads, early in my engineering career, there were no PCs and for years no internet...the time it took to develop expertise in any area were incredible!!

Use the forum, its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I must be missing something. I have some routes on my 350LM that I want to delete, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that. You say to delete the route on the Zumo itself, but what are the steps for doing that, please? So far, nothing I have tried has given me a delete option...

Thanks for that. It was not obvious to me what the "edit" icon was. Once I clicked the 3 stacked horizontal lines, I was all set. Thanks again.

    1) I'm a software developer: rule of thumb, always make things intuitive for users. 2) Agree with NPIGUY and dfulgo_66: Garmin gives you nothing as an instruction manual to work the darn thing..if you (as rooster 5488 states) have to go to threads to learn basic stuff...the support sucks. 3) I too, agree and went through "thinking" (and expecting) to be able to interact and delete or add or manipulate routes through the software....if you have to go back to the device...then...it's sad and sorry the lame software provided by Garmin. I just bought the Zumo 350 (I had all the forerunner watches forever - I'm a Triathlete) and I'm ready to part ways with this company: I'm switching to BMW Motorrad...no excuses...no forums...no lame software...all works in synch the way it should. Granted, you have to be able to research and find answers (like with the heck the device is not pairing with my iPhone 4s)......BUT TO SIMPLE ADD/EDIT/DELET a route !!?? Not a good excuse to stay with it or to defend BaseCamp.

Very dissapointed with Garmin after years of been a happy customer...my 2 cts.

    That's not quite true.

  • And there are on line manuals you can download for every GPS. Problem is some folks don't remember the basic rule RTFM.

Here's the URL. And check back every now and then as manuals are sometimes updated.
