We are releasing another public Beta of 4.0. This release contains a bunch of bug fixes and a few added features.

You should be able to update from within 4.0.0.4. Or download it directly at http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCamp_4.0.0.0_Beta.exe.

If you had trouble updating from 4.0.0.4 to 4.0.0.5 please use the download link, don't update from within BaseCamp.

Please give it a spin, report any errors and leave feedback here or via feedback option within BaseCamp. Thanks!

The What is new in BaseCamp 4.0? Thread still applies. Adventures are still the focus of this release.

We disabled the 'Unlisted Data' list for now till we get it working correctly.

A long-standing issue with shopping card POIs showing up on the map even if users turned of the display of points has been fixed.

You can now import into folders and lists (before we would always create a new list in My Collection).

Full change list:

Added ability to import into folders and lists (and not always import into My Collection).
Added ability to archive/un-archive adventures.
Added header for the folder data list.
Added easy way to display elevation profile from adventure.
Added ability to duplicate geotagged photos.
Added link the BaseCamp license agreement in help menu.
Added info icon for adventures in folder list.
Added ability to undo/redo on supported devices.
Added ability to drag and drop folders with BaseCamp data from the file system.
Added ability to accept Google Maps coordinate format when centering map at position.
Added new dog icons.
Added more information to adventure find results.
Added ability to permanently hide the adventure group.
Changed the simple route dialog to transition into the route properties so the route can edited further.
Don't let scroll-wheel change detail setting after changing setting.
Made sure waypoint creation date is visible by default in the waypoint properties dialog.
Fixed an issue where turning off the display of points would leave a lot of "shopping cart" POIs on the map for certain map products.
Fixed an issue where the selection was lost when left-clicking on the map with the hand tool.
Fixed issues where BaseCamp erroneously allowed you to create waypoints and would crash.
Fixed issues with route/track creation and joining.
Fixed issues with deleting data on devices.
Fixed issues with creating routes from tracks.
Fixed transfer of waypoint categories to device.
Fixed issue when BirdsEye selection box was dragged too far North.
Fixed issue with displaying custom maps on devices.
Fixed various adventure issues.
Removed Unlisted Data list (it will be back).

Well, opened BC Beta (4.0 or so version, which was working just fine) auto downloaded update and it would only "loop". After install, it would re-start and say I must apply update, which I would, would then re-start and give same message.. over and over... rebooted, no change. Did complete uninstall of BC Beta, cleaned registry, rebooted, downloaded clean copy of 4.0.0.5 and install did not work.. went through the process.. but no BC listed in programs anywhere and never started.. tried that twice.

Running Core i3, Win7 Pro 64 bit, 4 gb ram on a CLEAN system... absolutely prisitine HDD...

So here;s a bug for ya'! Luckily regular Mapsource is fine and standard BC is still OK.. but no BETA for me anymore!!!*(&*%^(^%)^

There is an installer issue with this release. I will take the update off for now.

    Sorry about the inconvenience.

We're in a quagmire now. Starting the Beta gives the notice that 4.0.0.5 Beta is available, Install or Close BaseCamp. To use the beta 4.0.0.4, I have to say install 4.0.0.5, then answer no to the UAC prompt to not install it. BC gives Install error and allows me to continue using the 4.0.0.4 Beta. I didn't find the trigger that says there's a software update to deactivate it.

Can you try to locate a file BaseCamp.exe at (location for Win 7)

    C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp\Garmin Software Updates\BaseCamp.exe

and delete it. That should make sure you can run 4.0.0.4 without being prompted to run the installer.

The above should be obsolete now. Just download the fixed installer from http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCamp_4.0.0.0_Beta.exe.

The installer has been updated. You should now be able to upgrade from 4.0.0.4 to 4.0.0.5, or download 4.0.0.5 directly at http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCamp_4.0.0.0_Beta.exe.

If you had any kind of trouble with the auto-update within BaseCamp, please use the download link.
  • Send to... from a device to a list does not work. The receiving list lights up green as normal but nothing gets received. I tried with both a Zumo and a Montana. This worked fine in the previous beta release.

Another minor issue: Sorting a waypoint list by Date Modified works OK but sorting the list by Date Created fails. The waypoint list blanks out.
  • When swap map en data field the button for "sort by" is right near the map name, when closing en reopening basecamp the buttom is moved to the complete right of the screen.
swap data en map field twice and the button is right of the mapname.

Thanks for reporting. We are already working on fixing the first issue you mentioned. I created a case for the second one. We should be able to fix that up before the final release as well.

Thanks for letting us know. I think that is being fixed.

    CrossHair

Thanks for clearing the shopping cart clutter!

One feature that I do use in Mapsource is to show a crosshair at the center of the map. Not a big deal, but if it is doable in Basecamp, I'd like to see it added.
