I cannot get my .gpx files that are in the GPX folder to come up anywhere in my 2460 unit. They were created in mapquest and basecamp and downloaded to the unit with that software. I have made copies and put them in the root directory and in the other related directories to no avail. aNYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHAT TO DO
I take it these are gpx files containing routes? If so they need to be in the GPX folder. Then when you boot your nuvi you need to 'import' them from there ... I don't have your model but it'll be something like Tools>My Data>Import Routes
I can do exactly what you indicated in my older NUVI 760 but there is no My Data tab in the newer 2460 model. I have copied the route.gpx file into the GPX folder in the 2460 but when I restart the Garmin it is nowhere to be fiound. It sounds like from what you said |I still need to import it into the proper area of the 2460 but I cant seem to find anywhere to do this. Searching on the Internet I have found other people with the same complaint but so far no solution. I have to say that I have found quite a few other steps back in this model and may get rid of it after owning it for only :)a month as it is more frustrating than my older Nuvi with the same 2013 version of the software....... Thanks for your reply
Sorry, my error, the newer nuvis that use Trip Planner do it automatically although the procedure is quite specific, see here from Garmin FAQs:
06/26/2012
To access a transferred route in a zumo 350, dezl series, LIVE series, or nuvi 2400, 2405, 2505, 3400, 3500, or 3700 series device:
1.Touch Where To?
2.Touch Trip Planner
3.Allow time for the device to automatically import the trip/route
These Trip Planner devices will take several minutes to automatically import trips into the Trip Planner. The import will automatically begin, but no message will appear on the device indicating that the import is happening. Once the import is complete, all transferred routes will be displayed under a category called Unscheduled Trips in the Trip Planner.1 Until the trips show up in Trip Planner, please do not turn off the device or connect it to a computer.
Note the need to wait until the trips show up in Trip Planner and not turn off the device until they do ;)
I assume you sent the trip to your nuvi using Basecamp? Can you check to see if there is a temp.gpx file in the GPX folder on your nuvi? That should confirm that Basecamp actually sent the file.
The route should appear in unscheduled trips pretty much immediately once you've disconnected your nuvi from the PC and switched it on.
Let's start again. Connect your nuvi to the PC, delete the temp.gpx file, then run Basecamp. Select the nuvi's All data folder in the top left hand pane, do the routes show in the lower left hand pane and on the map? If not send the routes to your nuvi again, now they should show.
Either way once they are showing in Basecamp as on your nuvi close Basecamp and do a safe eject of your nuvi. Switch it on, give it a few minutes and look under Apps, Trip Planner. Are the routes (trips) now showing?
I have the same GPS and am having the same problem.
I had to delete EVERYTHIN in the GPX folder using my PC. Under no circumstances could I get it to load GPX files from Mapquest. But when I used Basecamp, I finally got one to load. On mine, there was not a "wait" time like everyone keeps saying. Instead, an hour glass icon would immediately pop up and start showing that it was "working". With about 50 waypoints, it would take maybe 3 minutes.
If I never got the hourglass, the gpx never loaded no matter how long I waited. My 2460 was just updated with Garmin Express two days ago.
I have found the route (Trip Planning) feature of the 2460 to be very tedious to get it to work. VERY hit or miss with no real explanation. Just seems to work sometimes then not (most of the time).
It may have something to do with the actual format of the GPX file. Not sure. If they're not binary, I need to open them and look at the formatting to see if I can see a difference.
I'm also wondering if theres a processor or software issue that Garmin simply has not fully addressed.
Heer's something else to think about..... I try to use my 2460 for a large number of stops. Like 50 -100 I haven't found any way to "Optimize" the route with that many stops so what you end up with is simply a lot of waypoints, but since they're not optimized for best driving time etc, you can do a whole lot of extra driving. Mapquest will only allow optimizing 26 stops at a time. And I cannot get Mapquest gpx files to work anyway. If you know of a program that will optimize for more than a few stops please let me know. I will do likewise.
