What's the purpose of installing maps to my Nuvi???

After Garmin has jacked up my original forum name and set it to my email, i now have a new account here. What a train wreck the linking is...wow...

Anyway....

I just downloaded basecamp, and my nuvi 1490 is currently up to date with the latest 'lifetime' map from Garmin. When I go to utilities and 'install maps' I have two 'rows' both are identical, but one has the option to go further and install to my GPS.

I don't understand...my unit ALREADY has them installed...does it not???

If you already have the Lifetime maps on your unit, there's no need to do anything.

We'll look into why you might get 2 maps displayed in MapInstall.
