New firmware with adventure support has been released for:

Montana
62 Series (includes 78 series)
Oregon x50 Series
Dakota

“Garmin Adventures” is a new feature that allows you to easily share trips and photos and lets you find Adventures by other Garmin users. You can download a track from your GPS to BaseCamp, add some photos, videos and annotations; upload the trip as an Adventure and then share it via the Garmin Adventures web site with friends and family. BaseCamp allows you to author Adventures, and use a playback feature so you can re-live your trip. In the near future, Garmin devices will add support for Adventures as well.

The BaseCamp 4.0.0.4 gives you an early preview into Garmin Adventures. Please let us know how you like it and what you think we can improve. BaseCamp 4.0.0.4 will lead you to short surveys that will help us make Adventures a better product. If you have a minute to spare, please fill out these surveys. Thanks.

Finding Adventures

You can use BaseCamp’s find feature to locate other Adventures. You can download Adventures that you would like to take a closer look at. If you'd like to follow an adventure, just transfer it to your device.

Adventure Display and Playback

You can view details about an Adventure, and use the Playback feature. The Playback experience will be better if you have a Topo map and BirdsEye imagery. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8al8CHqOBmg for an example.

Creating an Adventure

You can create an Adventure from any track, either from My Collection or directly from your device. BaseCamp will locate photos and waypoints in the vicinity of the Adventure track. You can add annotations, YouTube videos and additional photos. It is important that you enter a good description so other can better experience your Adventure. Note that you can pick from the prepopulated list of activities or simply enter your own.

Each Adventure has its own database, so you can play around with your Adventure’s data without making any changes in your data in My Collection.

Publishing an Adventure

Once you are happy with your adventure, you can publish it. You can share a published adventure with friends and family (http://adventures.garmin.com/en-US/by/eracerz/hanakapiai-falls-trail-hike-2), you can link the adventure to your favorite social media site, you can use it to back-up your trip and download it again on a different machine and you can help fellow Adventurers find interesting stuff to do.
  • Don't worry, no one will be able to find your adventure anyway....

    Still broken in 4.6.2

    Adventure App

Have created a new adventure and am unable to post it. Get HTTP 500 error. That's odd... Microsoft Edge can’t find this page

This page can’t be displayed, because this site’s server might be under maintenance or there could be a programming error.

    HELP

I just tried and had no problems uploading an adventure, so it might not be on the Garmin side. The HTTP 500 message I looked up is a generic message for "we have no idea whats wrong". I can only offer the obvious like reboot, reload Basecamp, maybe turn off any McaFee type protection and try, if your using a VPN turn that off.

Adventures online now has a country and no language choice

I am in Canada and in the past once I published my adventure and viewed it online the language would be English and I would see the measurements in miles and feet. I could change this by changing the language to say French and the measurements would be in metric. (Flawed System but I kept hoping it would change). So today when I published and viewed online there was no choice for language. Now there is a country. (Mine is defaulting to United States) Also in the web address for my adventure it is en-US. eg. http://adventures.garmin.com/en-US/by/don-and-normajean/mcculloch-lake-snowshoe-jan-8-2017/#.WHLgvlMrIdU . I tried using the drop down menu and changing that to Canada but my Adventure disappears and it goes to the Garmin Adventure home page.

    1. So how do I change my default publishing to Canada and therefore hopefully metric? (my Basecamp settings are metric)
    2. Can I view my adventure in metric?
    3. Also how do I change my username (by Don and Normajean). This is not my garmin username (RangerSiggy). Sorry slightly off topic but hoping you can answer.

    Thanks

Guessing since I got no answer I have posted this in the wrong place. I will try to post elsewhere. PS I got the name change thing fixed.
  • An update to my previous issue as to not being able to see the Adventure I published. I thought my problem could be related to the fact that my Adventure was 104 miles and had several photos. So, I created a special Test Adventure ..... just two waypoints, a track of about 2 miles, and no photos. Went through the creation/publish process and the software said the Adventure was successfully published. Went to check if the Adventure was online via a search in Basecamp ..... and it doesn't show up.

I need some help on this.
  • I solved my problem after contacting Garmin Support. An issue with my garmin ID needed for publishing
