Any scheduled maintenance on the Garmin Adventure servers will occur Tuedays at 7:45am CT. Most maintenance down times will be less than 20 min. If you are experiencing an issue with adventures during this time, please try again later.

More on adventures here: adventures.garmin.com

New firmware with adventure support has been released for:

Montana
62 Series (includes 78 series)
Oregon x50 Series
Dakota

“Garmin Adventures” is a new feature that allows you to easily share trips and photos and lets you find Adventures by other Garmin users. You can download a track from your GPS to BaseCamp, add some photos, videos and annotations; upload the trip as an Adventure and then share it via the Garmin Adventures web site with friends and family. BaseCamp allows you to author Adventures, and use a playback feature so you can re-live your trip. In the near future, Garmin devices will add support for Adventures as well.

The BaseCamp 4.0.0.4 gives you an early preview into Garmin Adventures. Please let us know how you like it and what you think we can improve. BaseCamp 4.0.0.4 will lead you to short surveys that will help us make Adventures a better product. If you have a minute to spare, please fill out these surveys. Thanks.

Finding Adventures

You can use BaseCamp’s find feature to locate other Adventures. You can download Adventures that you would like to take a closer look at. If you'd like to follow an adventure, just transfer it to your device.

Adventure Display and Playback

You can view details about an Adventure, and use the Playback feature. The Playback experience will be better if you have a Topo map and BirdsEye imagery. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8al8CHqOBmg for an example.

Creating an Adventure

You can create an Adventure from any track, either from My Collection or directly from your device. BaseCamp will locate photos and waypoints in the vicinity of the Adventure track. You can add annotations, YouTube videos and additional photos. It is important that you enter a good description so other can better experience your Adventure. Note that you can pick from the prepopulated list of activities or simply enter your own.

Each Adventure has its own database, so you can play around with your Adventure’s data without making any changes in your data in My Collection.

Publishing an Adventure

Once you are happy with your adventure, you can publish it. You can share a published adventure with friends and family (http://adventures.garmin.com/en-US/by/eracerz/hanakapiai-falls-trail-hike-2), you can link the adventure to your favorite social media site, you can use it to back-up your trip and download it again on a different machine and you can help fellow Adventurers find interesting stuff to do.

FALAGAR, can you add a 'Refresh Adventures' function to BaseCamp to check each adventure loaded on connected devices against the same Adventures loaded in BaseCamp and automatically refresh the data on the device? It is quite tedious to have to resend each Adventure to each device over and over again, one at a time, each time I connect, to ensure all information is current on the device.

    Thank You.

I'll add this to the wish list. I cannot promise a quick implementation though.

Would you mind trying the Beta? https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?37158-BaseCamp-4-2-0-4-Beta-is-available

Let me know if you run into same kind of issues with adventures.

    Hiya Falagar,

Thanks for letting me try that. Unfortunately, these errors still exist in an unchanged fashion.

Also, another error in both the normal BaseCamp application and the Beta, is that "File - Export" is also hanging the application(s).

    I'm currently using:
    - BaseCamp version 4.1.2 & Beta.
    - Windows 7 (6.1.7601), service pack 1, build 7601.
    - Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop. (just looked it up, it's got 4GB ram installed - is that sufficient?)
    - Zümo 210 & Nüvi 1490LMT (having them connected or not does not have impact on above).

If it would help, I could crank the ram memory up a bit, I guess. I'd need to pop in at the dealer's, to see what's possible.

    Let me know?

    Best regards,

    Harry D.

Thanks for getting back to us. I don't think insufficient memory is an issue here.

We've seen these export issues before with laptops, so this might be related to your adventure issue.

Unfortunately this is a tough nut to crack, cause we haven't been able to reproduce this yet on one of our machines. We will keep looking into it.

You don't happen to be in the Phoenix area, do you?

    Hi Falagar,

You don't happen to be in the Phoenix area, do you?

Sorry, unfortunately not. I'd really like to drop in with the laptop & do a coffee or tea with your good selves, but I'm in the Netherlands, Europe. Thanks for the offer, though - appreciated. :)

Hope you can find this bug & flatten it... :D

Let me know if there's anything I could provide - could the beta generate a crashlog that I could send, maybe?

    Cheers,
    Harry D.

Hi, and I apologise if this has already been reported, but this is a long thread to search through. I've discovered that if you change the difficulty level of an adventure in BC, it is not uploaded when you refresh with the server. The only thing I can think of is to delete the whole adventure and start again, but I'm not sure how to save the adventure first so that I don't lose all my work. Also, another small point, I've noticed that if you have any apostrophes in the description, like "can't", or "don't", the description on the server is blank.

    Can Tracks be combined?

Hi. I am a relatively new Garmin Edge 705 user and I just completed an unsupported bike tour around Lake Michigan using it and the routes I planned in Basecamp. Basically, I had one route for each day's ride. It worked really great and I think made a believer of my somewhat skeptial riding partner, too. Anyway, I'd like to create a Garmin Adventure of the tour now, but am stymied on how to combine the numerous tracks into one Adventure.

In BaseCamp, you can select all tracks that make up the total trip (Hold CTRL while left clicking each track), and right click > Advanced > Join Selected Tracks. Use the resulting track as the primary track for the Adventure.

    Or,

If you want to keep each day separate in the Adventure, simply select the first day track as the primary track, and add the additional tracks individually for each day. They will each be available separately to the user following your adventure.

Thanks for getting back to us. I don't think insufficient memory is an issue here.

    Hiya,

Just a quick note, to confirm above & follow up on May 21st post: For various reasons, I've expanded the memory of my laptop to 8 GB (from 4GB) and I then figured to try if this might then also resolve above described errors, but alas: they still persist. You're right: free RAM memory is not the issue here. :)

Keep up the good work!

    cheers,
    Harry D.

    Refreshing Difficulty Level

Thanks for reporting. We'll check it out.

Hi Falagar. Any news on if you have been able to reproduce it and if you will be fixing it?
