So, I'm trying to figure out how to get BaseCamp/GPS devices to follow the trail I want to take.
This is in an offroading situation.
So I can use offroad trail books to get 4 or 5 waypoints for a trail say 30 miles long. I can enter those waypoints into BaseCamp and then build a route that follows those waypoints. I then upload the route to both my Zumo 665 and Rino 655t devices. All looks good.
As soon as I get out on the trail the GPSs start swapping to other trails constantly. I'm presuming this is the GPS trying to use whichever I have chosen, shorter time or shorter distance.
So I started experimenting while developing a route. I can use the "rubberband" to put in a whole lot of "vias"...I guess that's what they must be, they show up on the screen as an orange flag.
If I put in enough, the GPS will follow the route I want to take. But what a time consuming process.
Is there not some way to tell my devices "just follow my route". Don't look for shorter or faster..stick to the original planned route.
Direct doesn't seem to work as it goes back to my Garmin III Plus that couldn't do autorouting.
