Montana 600, Basecamp, Problems

Hello

I have worked on basecamp to prepare something for my brother's holydays from my personnal collection

I have 3 tracks, one course, and around 100 WP. I have made a comment and add a photo for all WP.

All is done under basecamp, adding the photo directly from my montana.

1st Problem. When i send all in the montana, half (approx.) of the waypoints have their photo missing. i can add it again directly on the montana but it is long and tedious.

2nd problem. When i go to the list of my waypoints, all the preview are mixed !!! I have the preview of another photo.. but if i go to the detail of the WP, all is correct

3d problem. When i pass all the list of WP, my montana shut off instantly.. and repetetively..

I am near throwing my montana out the window.. two days full of work and so much problems..are going to make me crazy.

All help will be greatly appreciated

(sorry for my bad english, it is not my mother language).

I am afraid I have no easy answer. We'd have to test this here to see if we can reproduce this.

I would need more details though.

How exactly are you creating these waypoints and how do acquire the images and add them to the waypoints?

As always, make sure you have the most recent version of BaseCamp (that is 3.3.3) and the most recent firmware for your Montana (you can have BaseCamp check that).

I have the last version of BaseCamp, and the last version of firmware.

The waypoints come from old mapsources i have created last year, some are added directly in basecamp, some come from my montana. The origin seems to have no effect on the problem.

To add the pictures, i put them all on the JPEG folder in my montana. To add them i open the property window in basecamp, put my comment and click on "add a link to a file".. I go to my montana and add the pictures from the montana.

I believe there is a database on the montana. Perharps a problem of refreshing names in dB? is there a way to look a the db or to reset it ?

I fear this is not as straight-forward as it could be, and I apologize for any inconveniences.

When you add a link to a waypoint in BaseCamp to a file on the Montana and then transfer the waypoint to the Montana, the file path will not be correct. It might say "K:\Garmin\JPEG\MyImage.jpg" (where K is the letter Windows assigns to the drive that represents the Montana, might be different for you) as the path in the gpx file, but the device won't know where K:\ is and thus won't display the image. It should say "Garmin/JPEG/MyImage.jpg".

So you could either manually fix the gpx file (by removing the drive letter from the link paths), or transfer the waypoints to the Montana first, and then assign the photos on the device (this will set the proper path).

But apparently Basecamp create link as "/garmin/jpg/filename" who seems adequate in the gpx file.

Sometimes when i have pictures missing in the pictures manager on the montana, when i look at info for the missing picture, i got an old filename.

(i have renamed a lot of pictures to short names, remove space or special characters ).

I have tried to remove all, start the montana to try to reset the database, before sending all pictures again, but it does not seem to work. Reseting the montana on factory settings does not work either.

So i will try the way you give me, but i hope that for a future version of basecamp you will had this features. It is more confortable to prepare trip from basecamp that directly on the montana.

No hint about the montana shutting off when you have a long list of waypoints with pictures ?

My device expertise is very limited. I would contact product support. Maybe they have seen that before, and have a suggestion.
