Picture properties

So I've taken some 50+ pictures out on the trail. Then when I connect my Rino665t to my laptop, and open BaseCamp, I can go to properties of a picture and give it a name that is appropriate.

But then, if I'm splitting up my data into different File Lists and use Send To to move them to the appropriate file...the name I gave it disappears and I'm back to the title given to the picture when taken.

Can I get the name I gave the picture to stay with it in every list I put it in?

Thanks,

When you rename a photo it doesn't actually change the name of the file, it just changes the name we give that photo in the database.

Then if you send that photo to a device again, it will probably just send the file with the old name, cause that hasn't changed.

The name should be preserved if you just send the photo to different folders and lists in My Collection. I just tried that with BaseCamp 3.3.3 and it seems to work.

    FALAGAR,

Nope, I changed the name of a picture currently on my Rino 655t, then "sent it" to a folder in my collection. Nope that picture name doesn't show up in the File List where I sent it.

What next? I do not have time to sit down, save each picture from my Rino 655t to a folder on my laptop with an appropriate name, and then re-import it to BaseCamp. That simply takes too long!!!

Oh, you changed the name on the device.

I think the same thing is going on there. The device doesn't change the name of the file, it only changes the name in its database.

When you send the photo to BaseCamp only the file is sent, not the name.

I'll have to do some testing once I get my hands on a Rino. Hopefully we can fix some of this.

    FALAGAR,

OK, so I did have the Rino connected to my laptop and went to My Data on the Rino, made the change and the copied it to another File List in BaseCamp.

I will try doing the same, but within the My Collection, without the Rino connected.

Once you get your hands on a Rino..there's no going back! I bought two for the radio link, but am finding I really impressed with the GPS as well.

I'll report back on what I find.

    Thanks,
