Default printer in BaseCamp

OK, I've only got five computer on my home network and five printers/plotters. My HP 1410 color laser is the default printer. But in BaseCamp I like to print everything on my HP 7500 on 13x19 paper.

Is ther someway to tell BaseCamp to always use the HP7500, regardless that it is not the default printer on my network?

Thanks,

Rooster
  • Think many programs would struggle with that. Once you've set the default printer ... most programs I use pick up on that and TBH I'd be upset if they didn't ;)

BaseCamp picks the system's default printer as its default. I believe that is how most application do it.

I understand that it would be nice in your case to pick a different default. But I am not very hopeful this feature will make it into BaseCamp. It just seems more consistent to have one system-wide default printer in the majority of use cases.

I think many applications in fact must "store" the last printer used. My default printer is a Lexmark, but I have a virtual printer called "PDF Creator" I use a lot, and I also have a small label printer.

Firefox and Thunderbird seem to remember to use the last printer it printed to. So does Irfan Viewer. There may be others, but I don't want to try all the apps I have installed. :)
