City Navigator Map problem in Basecamp

I have a Montana 600 with City navigator North America 2012 version loaded on the internal memory. (Alaska 24k topo in microsd card slot)

When I open basecamp (3.3.3 version) the maps show up, from the drop down and I can select them. The topo map works fine, but the city navigator map does not show street level detail. The map works fine on the Montana itself and I can do routing, addresses, POIs, etc. The map WAS working in basecamp showing the small streets, etc. It still shows the small towns, but no roads going to them. I cannot find by addresses or POI's either from basecamp now. I'm not on the wrong map (global map) because it doesn't even show these towns. I made sure I had the correct map displayed. I have detail level set to "highest"

I uninstalled the program, deleted the registry entries from "garmin" and deleted the program filesx86 garmin folders, as well as the garmin app data folders and reinstalled the program.

I also tried a simple "reset" under utilities, options. System is a Windows 7 64bit os with 8gb ram.

Thanks for the assistance!

That's strange. I also have a Montana 600 with City Navigator loaded into internal memory. Everything works fine in Basecamp when the Montana is connected.

Did you try to blast the card cache?

    For me, this is at:

    C:\Users\{ME}\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\CardProductCache.

That should force BaseCamp to re-index your card maps.
  • Thank you for the suggestions. I already tried deleting the card cache in the app data folder. Actually that was my first step. Maps did re-index after that. They had a green bar for a while, the CN map went fast, the topo map took a bit. After they were available the problem persisted. I could be wrong, but I think doing a reset through the preferences menu also clears that, which I tried to no avail. What's weird to me shows as available and when selected displays data, but not street level. Thus the find function does not support addresses or pois either. I'm doing this all with the Montana connected to the computer by USB and in basecamp it shows up as being connected. The map works fine on the device itself.

For curiosity's sake, do you have access to another PC with BaseCamp installed and could you check if it works there?

I am afraid I don't have a good explanation as to what might be going on.

I'd love to take a look at your map img file and your card cache to try to debug what might be happening. The img file is probably prohibitively large, but could you zip up your CardCache directory and send me a PM?

    I apologize for the trouble.
