Graphically select and duplicate a track section?

I realize I can graphically select a section of a track, but is there a way I can duplicate this section as a different track? I tried copy and paste, etc. without much luck.

Right now I am having to duplicate the entire track and scroll through the track points, delete the ones I dont want.

Not sure if it's the most elegant way but what I do is copy (right click the track/route then select duplicate) the entire track/route then snip off the ends I no longer want :)

That is what I do as well.

But I'll create a case for being able to copy track subselections and paste them into a new track.
