newbie problem sending routes from BC to Montana

This is probably something simple but I have routes that show up on the map just fine in basecamp, but then when I send the route to my device, (Montana 600), all it shows on the device map are the beginning and ending point. I know all the waypoints are on my device because when I look in waypoint manager they are all there. I've tried this with several different routes and they all end up with the same results...I assume it is probably something simple but I can't seem to find anything about this in the Garmin videos.

Any help is really appreciated!

Do you use the same map that is on the device when you create the route in BaseCamp?
