How do I selectively turn on/off custom maps and birdseye in Basecamp

Sometimes I just want to see the Topo map and other times I want to "layer" a custom map or Birdseye image over it. It doesn't seem that Basecamp has this functionality though. Am I missing something?
Just create separate lists in your collection that only have the things you want. I have one that includes Birdseye and others that don't. I have different sets of waypoints and tracks in other lists. And I have one list named "blank" that doesn't have anything in it, so I can just view the map without clutter. When you click on the list in the library window, you will activate/deactivate whatever features it does/doesn't contain.
Will that do what you want? It is a basic feature of Basecamp.
That is a good workaround. Thanks. Basecamp is a pretty decent product, but odd that you can't do something as basic as select what you want displayed and what you don't want displayed.
Why would you consider it a "workaround"? That's just the way the program was designed - Basecamp shows the items that are included on the active list in the library.
I'm not so crazy about the Basecamp user interface myself, but it seems to be consistent.
Sure, if you're using such software so long, you think it's consistent that maps are selected in the menu, but hey if they're raster maps - they're selected in the collection...
Try google translate on falagar's response in the german forum...
The problem is that, on a PC, some data from vector maps goes into the PC's registry, (assume something similar on a Mac) but none of the data for the raster maps does. So the dropdown that shows the map product list would need some major re-engineering to show both types of maps. Maybe there could be another dropdown for "CustomMaps"?
You're right (maybe newer gmap installations not), another way would be to be able to select the "background" (maps) onto which data in lists is displayed by right-clicking on the list or having a check-box on the list.
