Problem with Login to Forums

I can log in to the Forum and it says that I can post replies.

It continues to show this as I enter a reply but as soon as I commit it it says I am not logged in.

What am I doing wrongly?

The IP in your email was the same as one of mine.
its an Akamai device.... probably some front-end server load-balancer thing they use.

I completely agree with your comments, I have experienced exactly the same problems as you did and I have been trying to reply to your post without success and I just received a mail for garmin saying same as yours
    " Dear DONALD01,

Someone has tried to log into your account on Garmin Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 184.51.156.64

    All the best,
    Garmin Forums"
this address relates to Akamai as well.

Hopefully I will be able to post this reply without being kicked off.

FYI, I got email back from support, and this is what they said:

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
I have reported the issue for you but they are not aware of any current
    issues causing your problem.

    With Best Regards,

    Jason S
    Software Support Specialist
    Software Team

BTW, I had to try logging in 3 or 4 times to post this..... the first ones all reported "over quota, blah blah", but I retried it immediately over and over and finally got in.

    Update:
I see that the forums look a bit different today.
Gone are the login boxes at the upper right; instead a button to "Login". I clicked it and entered my credentials and I am right in, and posting this. Hope that means they found/fixed a problem with a forum (vBulletin?) software update (or whatever, as long as it fixes this problem for good).

    Time will tell.

Obviously the site software has changed. Now I am having the same issue as others with not staying logged in. If I go to the main forum page, I am logged in, then I view a specific thread and I'm not. Go back to the main page and it still says I'm logged in. Tried to post before in this thread but got a whole series of changing URLs in the address bar, then a blank page.

Let's see what happens this time...

Well it seems to be working now. Very strange.

I'm not staying logged in since the software change, but I've also noticed that my first reply fails a lot. Maybe this one too? (Yep, you're reading the second post.) I'll submit a reply. The screen goes blank. And the reply never appears on the bottom of the thread. Second time's normally a charm.
  • Gosh, I thought I was the only one having these issues. I occasionally have problems logging in too, but my big problems are staying logged in, and replying to messages. Posting new threads is occasionally a problem. I use both Mac and PC; Safari, Firefox, chrome and IE. It doesn't matter the OS or browser, the issues show up with all.

I notice that there are a butt-load of re-directs when I try to reply to a post.... could this be part of the issue??

And searches........ that's a big problem too. I realize that with as many posts as must be on this board that searches with only a few keywords probably bring back too many hits to handle, but geeze....... can't the guys at vBulletin limit it to the most recent hundred or so matches and show me some search results instead of returning nothing and telling me to refine my constraints?

I hope GARMIN is threatening the people at vBulletin, because I've never had problems like this at sites that use phpBB.
  • VOICERESPONSE I agree with you. Reading and posting on the forums has become a laborious task. While composing a post I'm frequently logged off, so when submitting the post nothing happens. I've gotten used to saving my post in notepad before submitting so I don't have to start all over again, which just happened.
  • It is a farce, to write a long reply and then its lost because you have been logged out is a joke. I just don't bother posting much now. Good old Garmin, user support is useless.

I agree, the forum software "upgrade" has made everything very tedious. Just browsing the forum is much slower than before, and attempting to post can be an exercise in frustration. If the idea was to discourage people from using the forum, then it was a success.

I just don't bother to come here much anymore and this is the first time I've tried to post in weeks. Let's see if it actually works this time, the last few times I tried, nothing happened. Pretty sad when even the moderators are complaining about their own forum. C'mon Garmin, I know you can do better than this... :(
