BaseCamp 3.3.3 has been released. You can download it manually at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435. The update from within BaseCamp should become available as well later today.

This is a maintenance release, meaning it's mainly bug fixes.
  • Fixed an error when a new list folder was created while a balloon was visible on the map
  • Fixed an error when creating waypoints or tracks over 3rd party maps that are missing files
  • Fixed some errors when receiving from a device (this is the generic wording for the geocache log message)
  • Fixed an error when using BaseCamp with an iPhone connected
  • Fixed an issue with MTP devices with cards greater than 8 GB in size
  • No Tickbox to accept licence agreement for 3.3.3

I have tried every method of loading this update.

Everytime it displays the Licence agreement I get a greyed out "Next" button and an "Exit" button.

There is no tickbox so I cannot accept the agreement and therefore I cannot click next to complete the install.

I am using Windows 7 on a 64 bit laptop.

    What am I doing wrongly?

You are not doing anything wrong. It's a bug. I apologize for the trouble.

That is a newly introduced issue in the installer.

This only happens if you have your Windows installation set up to display the text larger.

In Windows 7, you can get to the settings by going to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display > Make Text or other items larger or smaller. It should work similarly in XP/Vista.

Put smaller (100%) there and re-run the BaseCamp installer.

This is of course something we will fix very soon, but for the time being please use the work-around mentioned above.

After BaseCamp has installed successfully, you can revert back to your old settings.
  • Tick Box Workaround

    Falagar,

Thank you for the work-around which solved the problem.

  • Slow Initiation of Find Facility

    Falagar,

Every time I load BaseCamp it spends more than one minute initiating the find facility for my map version (Europe NT 2012.40).

Why does it need to do this every time? MapSource does not do it and MapSource provides a much quicker and more logical search capability than BaseCamp. Can we have the MapSource coding transfered into BaseCamp (provided as a second searching capability if necessary).

We are currently working on speeding up the search bar, and improving the find functionality.

That should go into BaseCamp 4.0.
  • Search Bar

    Falgar,

That will be welcomed by many people.

  • Start New Route

    Falagar,

    Next problem.

Please can you tell me how I start a new route (as shown in the video) where a window pops-up to enable the start and end point waypoints can be dragged into the window.

I did have this facility in an older version but 3.3.2 and 3.3.3 just activate the "insert" pointer requiring me to "draw" a route.

Has the two waypoint facility been removed from these newer version?

It's still there, but you must have disabled this at some point.

Unfortunately, enabling it again is not very straight-forward (something we'd like to change).

If you reset the options (Ctrl-O, General, Reset) you will get the route creation wizard back, but this will of course also reset all your other options as well (your data won't be touched, just preferences).

Alternatively, you could also mess around with the XML preferences file, but that's even messier and a somewhat advanced thing to do, so if you can stand to reset your preferences, I'd go that route.

If you do want to find the config file, it's called user.config, and is in one of your user data directories, in the GARMIN_Corp subfolder. You'd have to find this:

    <setting name="ShowRouteCreationDialog" serializeAs="String">
    <value>False</value>
    </setting>

and put a True in the value tag.
  • New Route Popup window problem

    Falagar,

    Good morning.

I have now been through the Reset option twice but it has not made any difference to the New route facility.

I used General and Reset and then the PC restarted. i set my Activity Profile to "Motorcycle" and then tried to start a new route using "File, New, Route". I still get the Route drawing tool not the popup window.

Just to be sure I then repeated the Reset process and got the same result again.

For the record I am running Windows 7 on a 64 bit Laptop.

    Regards

    Roy
  • I tried it as well under w7, 64bit. Reset didn't change behaviour. When I changed user.config file it worked.
