How to find all items not in any list?

I apologize in advance if this has been answered before... I did try and search.

I don't use BaseCamp often but discovered over the weekend that I have a bunch of waypoints/tracks/routes that are not in any list, This should not be the case as all were imported from MapSource GDB files and should be in lists named after the files.

My question is: Is it possible to (easily) show all items that are not in any list?

Also any idea how this would happen?

This is something we'd like to address at some point.

There isn't a good way to do this currently.

If you delete data from a list and use the Delete key, the data will be removed from the list, and not from My Collection. So if you really want to get rid of data, use the 'Shift-Delete' short-cut. That will get rid of the data in My Collection as well.

    Ok, thanks.

I don't recall whether I ever used Del vs Shift-Del but it's possible.

Maybe there should be a "Little Orphan Annie" list :D

It's been quite some time since we requested an "orphan list" and now that you support Categories, what else do you need to filter "non-categoried" objects into a list(?).

I suppose I'm being obvious but since you did create the "Category" attribute why not apply it to ALL data objects? Then the above filter wouldn't be so difficult.

And, if all objects supported the Category attribute, wouldn't that enable the Adventure's concept?

    Hey DRTBYK,

Basecamp does not have categories and Falagar has made it clear that it never will. That is, all Basecamp has is lists and a limited ability to use them to approximate categories when copying waypoints to/from devices that have categories. There is no category attribute associated with waypoints and you cannot search or filter for category and you cannot even designate which lists are"categories" and which are not. So it's no help for this situation.

If Basecamp did have categories it still would not resolve the "Orphan Annie list" problem. Routes and tracks can also be present in the Collection without being in a list and they have never had a category attribute.

The only solution is a specific "no list" filter because List is a data element that is common to everything in the Collection.

    ...ken...
