Typing waypoint coordinates failes

When I try to enter in the properties pane of a waypoint new coordinates, I get problems. An example. I try to enter the coordinates N48° 50' 03" E08° 26' 23" . the North Values are OK, but the E values I can't enter: As soon as I enter the 26 of the minutes, the displayed value of the degrees as well of the minutes changes to completely wrong values. I tried a lot to enter this values in different ways, but was unable to do it. the program always changed my entrances to wrong values.
I have basecamp 3.3.2 german version and Windows Vista

    An example. I try to enter the coordinates N48° 50' 03" E08° 26' 23"

Firstly, is BaseCamp (Options/Measurement/Position/Grid) set to DMS? Secondly I don't think you should enter special characters (°,', "). Just use spaces between the fields.

    e.g. N48 50 03 E08 26 23
  • I moved this to the Windows thread. StuartMW is correct. At best the other characters are ignored, but more typically they break the input.
  • Sorry, your advices don't help. II did not use any special characters as ° in the entrances.
I have the german version. The grid format DMS is not available there. I used " Breite/Länge hddd°mm'ss.s" ".
As already said, the north entrance works well, but when I type then E8(space)26 the display changes to E21(space)20 and when I enter E08(space)26 the display changes to E12(space) 20
Another space between the E and the 8 or 08 does not change the behaviour.
To use the cursor right instead of the space does not help.
I tried it now also on my laptop, which works under Windows 7. Also here a reasonable input after the E is not possible
I get the impression, that this behauviour may be special to the german version either of basecamp or windows . So I would welcome it, when another user of the german version could try such an entry.
  • I made some further tests: If I type the inputs very quick, they stay correct. when I type slow, the above behaviour occurs.

Ok. I suggested that because sometimes people copy'n'paste coordinates that contain those characters.

DMS is Degrees/Minutes/Seconds (hddd°mm'ss.s) which is what you're using.

The only thing I can suggest is using German abbreviations to North(Norden)/South(Süden)/East(Osten)/West(Westen) instead of English. In other words try O instead of E.
