Hello,
BaseCamp has some nice ideas and features, but the data management is unusable. Data is stored in a non-clear way, with "deletes" and "removes", many data items are just links which are not visible. This structure and unpredictable manner makes it unable to make a good data planning.
So my question to the developer is:
Why has BC such "unlogical and strange" data handling?
Why can it the data handling not be made "normal"?
Do application developer not work with their products?
Another issue what I wanna tell here (not BC related):
Garmin is producing superiour products in the aerial and nautical navigation. But why not in terrestrical (land) navigation?
In land navigation the products are only "low consumer products" (not to say poor quality). Why Garmin dont have a product line for superiour land navigation devices too? Similar like for example an Ashtech MM10? A GPS unit with high accuracy, good software (firmware) and functions. Lets say, similare like an MM10 with an increased 76er firmware for professional navigation work. (besides, the accuracy of current GPS units is poor).
My consequences:
I wanted to by a Montana but did not. My 60s and 76s still better, not considered the buggy firmware.
I tried many weeks with BC, but cant do the job with this, so MS still the better joice.
I just wonder why Garmin decreases its products in this way.
Best regards,
Paul
PS: I am working with Garmin systems since 1996.
