Zoom tool center map function is broken

The zoom tool has several functions, but one part is not working anymore:

Short left mouse click on map normally centres the pointed map position and zoom's in one level. The centring is broken.

The dragging a rectangle and the zoom in and/or zooming out by using the right mouse button are working also as they always did.

This is working as intended, it got changed at some point.

We zoom and preserve the relative position of location where you clicked (or used the mouse-wheel at). It's just like what happens when you zoom in or out on Google maps or Bing maps.

I think the zoom tool is getting better and better. Now if you couldplease integrate a push on the mouse wheel/middle button so that a press and drag would pan I'd be a happy BaseCamper.;)

Can I second that request... especially when another tool, like the route tool, is currently selected?!?!? ;)

Why yes as a matter fact I am a very happy Global Mapper user :D... but also AutoCad, Terramodel, ..... :p

I think GlobalMapper is the only software I have that uses the center mouse button (scroll wheel) to pan the image, and it's a great feature. Maybe some other programs can do that but I haven't discovered (I use VectorWorks instead of AutoCAD).

In fact, I find myself trying to use this to drag the map in other programs as a reflex action, often with undesired results. :)

:D Definitely happy with Global Mapper, but AutoCad was the first place I used it. Zoom w/ mouse wheel. Pan by pressing the wheel. Then got into Global Mapper for fun, and found it was easier to view my map data in GM than MapSource. Kinda odd since GM's original author was one of the MapSource developers.

I'll try to make that happen.

Please keep in mind that an Mac does not have a middle mouse.

Reason to post this, because i work mainly with the Mac version of BaseCamo and in that BaseCamp version the click of the left mouse button with the zoomtool does (still) center to the map.

If the mouse movements for zoom, panning and clicking are well integrated, then the hand and zoom tools can even dissapear.
