Hello!.

I have made a lot of Waypoints in BaseCamps for my Garmin Nuvi 205.

I want to know if BaseCamp can make the shortest rute automatically for me.

Im sorry is this is a newbie question... I search the forum and the first 20 post dont said nothing about this.

THANKS!!!!!
  • Well it'll create a route, depends on your settings/activity profiles whether it'll be shortest or not. However even if you do make a route you realise (I hope) that you can't send it to your 205? Actually you can, it's just that your 205 doesn't support routes so you'll be unable to view it ;)

Are you asking if BaseCamp can solve the Traveling Salesman Problem?
I kinda doubt it, because I suspect that BC will use the entry sequence of your points. Falagar or one of the other developers can answer for sure. I know BC will calculate the shortest route between two points.

Well SUSSAMB, I dint know that!!!!... Im glad you tellme cuase I will spend so much time try to do all the rutes... for nothing!!!!!

SELDOM, im a traveler (firt time in USA, im argentine), i dont sale trips. Yes BC works with sequences... binds the first with the second, the second with third.. etc... but not the shortes combo... (3°, 1°, 2°) etc...

Well thank you so much anyway!

The Traveling Salesman Problem is a classic computing problem that gets more difficult to solve as the number of points visited increases. Sounds like what you're trying to do. Look it up on Wikipedia, or Google it.

I know this is a Garmin forum but for anyone who really needs this capability, Microsoft's Streets&Trips (North America), MS AutoRoute (European version of Streets&Trips), and MS Mappoint (NA or Europe versions) will do it.

    ...ken...
