Importing and listing categories from my Nuvi

OK, I think I'm getting senile ;)

On 17 Feb I imported data from my Nuvi 1490 into Basecamp. It retained all the categories I have set for my favourites, so Basecamp has a folder named Nuvi and lists within that folder that are named by category exactly like my favourites in my nuvi are organised.

Today I've tried to do exactly the same, but all I'm getting is a list that contains ALL my favourites, not broken down by category.

I've tried using Basecamp's 'Import' and 'Send to' functions working directly on the nuvi folder. I've saved current.gpx to my hard drive and tried importing that. All I get is a list.

I know it can be done, it's just I can't remember how I did it previously :confused:

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it :)

Not saying you're wrong but I didn't think BaseCamp would do this. A favorite can have multiple categories but BaseCamp's list model should support that..

What I can say, for certain, is the the Current.gpx from my 1490T contains Category data.

I just fired up BaseCamp 3.3.1 (PC) and all the favorites in my 1490T show up under "Devices" in the "All Data" list as you described. I've never seen it any other way but I don't use BaseCamp often.

BTW if I check the "Properties" of favorites in the list and look in the "Lists" tab of the dialog it shows the categories. BaseCamp therefore read the data.

What happens if you drag'n'drop the "All Data" list under Devices to a list in BaseCamp (e.g. "My Collection")?

Edit: That's the trick! I just created a "Test" list folder under "My Collection" and drag'n'dropped the 1490T "All Data" list under devices to that folder. My categories, in the 1490T, were converted to lists in the "Test" folder. So that's how its done :)

Tried that ... just get a list, not split into categories. It's so infuriating because I know it's possible but just can't work out how :o

Maybe because you already have the same list names in BaseCamp (?).

Definitely worked for me.
