    Fix-009

    SMART HIGHLIGHTING

    Highlighting other routes poi's
Maybe you can just prevent it except the beginning and end ones
Then Basecamp users can go wild
    with
    NO EXTRA WORK

    BC does it automatically then

    Fix-010

    SMART SORTING

When viewing the poi list of a route
It you click on GPS then it sort
    BUT

on top of that make HOW selection tick boxes
    Left to right
    Top to bottom

Left to right, right to eft same thing
Top to bottom, bottom to top same thing
Can use invert for that later

While editing a route and you marked a terrible corner
    The sorting goes bananas
Left to right or Top to Bottom, if you can just highlight some in the list
    Will sort out the problem

YOU CAN'T SORT ALL THIS WAY, ELSE YOU MESS UP BIG TIME
    JUST A SELECTION OR SOMETHING

    Will be appreciated

Basecamp Map Control with smaller segments

BaseCamp Map Control turns in too larger segments

Can the BC Team PLEASE build in something to turn in smaller segments

    Home + PgUp turns it

    eg.

    Shift + PgUp
Shift + Home Very small turn segments

    or

Build a setting into settings where the user can decide what segments to turn with. It must be from very TINY too larger

    Will be appreciated
  • Tell you what. Why don't you completely rewrite the whole program yourself and submit that to Garmin. I am sure they will appreciate where they have gone wrong and learn from the experience.

I'm surprised a list like this is so short, given my experience with Basecamp.

    My suggestions

Overall I am happy with Basecamp

    Some remarks:

    1) after selecting detail level (low, medium, high etc) via toolbar the control keeps the focus: focus back to map?
    2) with route dialog / window open, scrolling through waypoints/shapepoints and moving them (to roads: basecamp does a bad job in snapping them to roads while makeing a route the route recalculation starts and after that the dialog undergoes a reset with the first routepoint at the top: the focus should come back to last selected route point, to be able to proceed with adjusting... same when re-ordering the waypoints (compare with behaviour in Mapsource!)
    3) the zoom level at which POI are shown is now linked to the selected detail level. Especially when you work on a route on the smallest roads in a city this is inconvenient: a user setting in the display setting of an activity profile?
    4) duplicating routes leads also to duplicated waypoints. That is is the last thing you want (for me this is the only really annoying behaviour of basecamp).
    5) location of database should be a user setting

Hope that in some way you guys from Garmin make clear that these kind of posts are helpful or at least read...

Posts like this are certainly helpful. I'd prefer it it if you started a new thread for you feedback, so it's easier to keep track of.

    1. I noticed this myself, we'll see if we can fix this.
    2. Also something we'd definitely like to do.
    3. I assume you mean the 'Map Display Features' being linked with the profile? I agree that this is probably buried too much, and it doesn't always make sense to have this in the activity profile. We'll have to think about this one.
    4. Not duplicating them may also lead to all sorts of issues. This was actually requested here on the forums so we made the change. But like so many things, what is good for one user, might not be good for another. We'll see how this pans out, if we get more requests that indicate that waypoint duplication during route duplication is not what people want, we'll have to make this configurable in some way.
    5. We'll see what we can do.

    Thanks for your feedback!

    wishes

    Thanks for the reaction. :)

About the waypoints: they are a location. That's what I like so much about Basecamp. You use the ones you predefine /download in mutiple routes.... Duplicating them results in a mess?

    Kind regards, Rob

PS I thought when there is a threat with a fitting subject it would be more disturbing to open a new one

Waypoint duplication upon upload to my unit (Montana) is probably the biggest annoyance in BaseCamp. Most of my routes start from HOME, so when I upload 2 dozen routes I get 2 dozen HOME waypoints on the Montana. Since the Montana allows creation of a GO HOME shortcut (mighty handy!), I had to create a workaround with a single HOME1 waypoint which is never part of any route. The shortcut now points to that waypoint. I still have to delete, one by one, all the HOMEs but one to unclutter the unit's waypoint list. Basecamp, of course, only shows one HOME in the My Collections list.

Configurability of this in options would be a HUGE step forward!

    Thanks.
  • I absolutely agree on the useless duplicating of waypoints. I noticed this about an hour after I unpacked the Montana and have been annoyed by it ever since. I have a thread about it somewhere down stream and Falagar agreed that this was not the desired behaviour.

I also wish that the Montana would allow me to sort the waypoint and route lists alphabetically but that's outside the scope of Basecamp discussions.

May I add my voice about duplication of Waypoints. To have 'Home' duplicated endless times is cluttered and fills up lists needlessly.
