60CSx and Basecamp

So, I'm trying to learn Basecamp and I figured out how to build mapsets, but where can you see the actual number of selected tiles? I know there's a "gas guage" type bar on the right showing how full the card is, but that's not the limit on the 60CSx. The number of tiles (2025 max) is the limiting feature. The old Mapsource program showed you how many tiles you currently had selected AND the file size. So, is there anywhere in Basecamp to see the number of tiles selected?

Also, when you import a map you've previously created, how/where can you see the tiles that were selected? I ask because I cannot fit all of TOPO US 2008 into one map file. I need to see where I left off from the previous map so I can start highlighting the area right next to it. I did all this before easily in Mapsource and I HOPE I can do the same things in Basecamp.

Thanks in advance...

We will eventually add this capability to MapInstall (the program BaseCamp launches to do map installations).

You might be better off just to use MapSource for what you are trying to do. It's still available for download.

Why was this BASIC feature not included in the first place? Basecamp is an updated utility and should have included any and everything that Mapsource had...and then some...even if it uses a different map install program...

But, that's exactly what I did. I just reinstalled Mapsource from the TOPO US 2008 DVD. I forgot I had it. :D

Well that is not really true.... Basecamp was started as a parallel and different program more suited to hiking and such. It is just recently that they decided to kill Mapsource and change Basecamp to take over.

Mapinstall is a completely different program that has been around for years, before Basecamp...

Doesn't matter. When they killed off Mapsource and had Basecamp "take over", they should have ensured Basecamp had all the same BASIC functionality.

    Shoulda woulda coulda....

Complaining does not solve the problem...

Asking very nicely so that the extremely overworked programmers will move the request up the pile is how to get things done around here.

Whatever dude. Give it a rest. Mapsource is reinstalled and working fine. Basecamp (and their team) can stick it where the sun don't shine for all I care if they're going to sit on this issue since they already KNOW about it. You'd have seen that in the response from Garmin, had you followed the entire thread, which is appears you haven't. Ta ta...
