Using the insert tool on an existing route

I like the change to BC regarding the "popup" indicating the intersection when making a new route (like MS). However I noticed (unless I missed something) that when the insert tool is used on a existing route there is no indication that you are locked onto an intersection. If you do not zoom in close enough you will end up with a point off of the road or intersection. It would be nice if the insert tool had the same popup as the new route tool.

Also when creating a new route it seems that if there are several icons near an intersection that you have no way of choosing which point (intersection, map feature, etc) you want to use in your route like MS did. Again you have to zoom in really close to pick the point you want.

    Thank you for your feedback.

This is already an item in our feature database, so hopefully you will see that added in a future feature release.

When you do it, please make it a virtual clone of the way Mapsource does it (yeah, I know....whine, snivel).

I was reminded of how much simpler it is to use the route tool in Mapsource just a couple of days ago when I was trying to help someone in the Mapsource section. They wanted to join three routes and asked how to do it in Mapsource. So I had to quickly create three routes in Mapsource to try to join. I was pretty sure it couldn't be done in Mapsource but in my usual anal fashion I had to be sure.

Then I switched to Basecamp and went through the same process .... well, hardly the same. As NSEW360 said, creating routes with the route tool in Basecamp is a genuine pain if you aren't zoomed in really really tight and are trying to select points that have stuff (towns, intersections, etc) nearby.

The thing that makes it really confusing in Basecamp is that when you hover over such a point you get a balloon pop-up with a nice list, just like when you right-click in Mapsource. But you can't do anything useful with it except create a waypoint. I almost never want to create a waypoint when I'm creating routes this way. And this is the way I almost always create routes.

I couldn't believe how much simpler it is in Mapsource. At any zoom level. No matter how much other junk is in the area of the point you want to select. Just right-click, select the item from the list, select "add to route", and off to the next point.

Please make it as simple in Basecamp when you get a chance to get to it.

Two thumbs up for the route joining function in Basecamp. I was able to tell the person to use Basecamp to do it. And yes, it's really simple.
