Creating a Waypoint in BC 3.3.1

I suspect you won't like the comparison with MS but it's the only similar thing I have for comparison.

I want to create a waypoint for which I have the co-ordinates.

In Mapsource I click on the waypoint icon, I click on the map, a dialogue box automatically opens in which I name my waypoint, I select the relevant symbol, I clear the position and type N53 20.449 W6 15.318. I press <enter>. Job done.

In BC I click on the waypoint icon, I click on the map, a waypoint appears with a default name and symbol. I need to open the properties so I double-click the icon and BC creates another one. OK, there must be another way. I right-click, nothing. I find the new waypoint in the waypoint list, I right click on the name and select properties. I enter the name I want, I select the symbol, I clear the position. I start to type ignoring the 'invalid input' dialogue box that appears (give me a chance!), I type N53 20.449 W6<space>...hang on a minute where did that 00.000 appear from? I ignore it and continue to type 15...hang on a minute, why has it changed W6 to W31 and why is the cursor now between the first 00 pair? (The figure after 'W' seems to be a bit of a random number generator dependent on when I pause.) Eventually I manage to enter the co-ordinates I want. I press <enter>, nothing, I close the dialogue box noting that there was no way I could have simply cancelled what I just did, I would have had to save it then hit CTRL-Z.

I create a waypoint (or route) called 'Test2'. I try to change it to 'test2' BC tells me it is a duplicate name and I need to use a unique one. It is unique. I suspect it is confused by the 'Test2' I am trying to change it from. Let's try that a different way. I select the properties for the waypoint. I overwrite the 'Test2' with 'test2' it doesn't change the name in the waypoint list. I delete the 'T', see the name change in the list, I put in 't' and close the dialogue box. That worked. Just put of curiosity I open the properties again and change the 't' to 'T' that works as expected so it's happy with lower to upper case changes but not upper to lower case.

This is on Win7x64 Pro.

I really am trying to switch from MS to BC but it's not an easy thing to do...
