File Limitation in My Collection?

We are considering using BaseCamp as the mapping software for a missing person search. The search will be multiple days and will require downloading 20-40 GPSs each day. Is there a limit in the number of files (tracks and waypoints) that BaseCamp will store?

There is no limit that we enforce. You will notice a performance hit at some point. But if all you do is store waypoints and tracks, and if your computer is somewhat up to date, I think it should work pretty well.

If you download the same data several times BaseCamp should be smart enough to not duplicate it, so this should prevent the data becoming too large too quickly.
